My name is Kaleiki Carroll and I am a Junior at Kamehameha Schools. I have been selected to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security from February 15, 2011 through February 20, 2011 in Washington D.C. I am honored to have been chosen based on my academic performance and I look forward to representing my school and Hawaii while attending this forum. I will even receive college credit for my attendance. Please allow me to share with you the following excerpts from my invitation letter:

The mission of the Forum on National Security is to recognize and honor the nation’s most promising high school scholars and prepare them for a possible future career in public service.

At the forum…you will hear from and personally meet with top policy makers and ex-perts in the fields of national security, intelligence and diplomacy.

You will be welcomed at the most technologically-advanced policy centers and military facilities in the country.

I have raised nearly all tuition cost from family donations and my own efforts; I am now seeking grant and donation money from the community to help off-set the $1,900 tuition costs still lacking for me to go to Washington, D.C. I would like to ask for your support in providing donation money for all or a portion of this balance. Continue reading
