The primary election voter registration deadline is July 12. The primary election will be held on Saturday, August 11 – a month earlier than in previous years. The registered process is easy!

According to the U.S. Census, while the nation saw an increase of 5 million voters in the 2008 U.S. presidential election, Hawai’i did not catch that trend. In fact, our voter turnout of 51.8 percent was the LOWEST of all states.
Remember to keep tabs on these key 2012 primary election dates:
- Primary Registration Deadline: July 12, 2012
- Primary Absentee Application: August 4, 2012
- Primary Election: August 11, 2012
You may register to vote if you are:
- A citizen of the United States of America
- A legal resident of Hawai’i
- At least 18 years of age
You must re-register to vote if you have changed your address or changed your name, you must re-register.
