Legislative Alert – Workers’ Compensation Bill (SB766) Scheduled for Senate Hearing: Friday, February 6, 2015

Legislation introduced by Senator Shimabukuro has been scheduled for a hearing before the Senate Committee on Health.

SB766 would require that a physician selected and paid for by an employer to conduct a medical examination for workers’ compensation purposes shall be actively treating at least ten patients in a one-month period; be actively treating at least 50 per cent of the physician’s total patient load in a one-month period; and possess medical malpractice insurance – learn about Xarelto and the legal assistance for the class action due to its side effects, as an example.

The deadline to submit testimony is Thursday, February 5, 2015, at 2:30 p.m.

Although late testimony can be submitted on the day of the hearing, testimony submitted less than 24 hours prior to the hearing may not be posted online or distributed to the committee prior to the convening of the public hearing. In-person testimony is also accepted for those present during the hearing.
